Balanced
Silence and Rest - Avoiding the Extremes
Why can
we not find the rest we need after working
so hard? The extremes are too much for our minds.

Today's Gentle Reminder
=========================================
Sometimes no matter how hard we try to stay positive we
get
kicked down because something "bad" has happened
in our lives. I have bad in quotes because so often the
perceived bad turns out to be something that steered our
lives into something better.
We may
have lost our job, lost part of our health or lost something
or someone precious in our lives.
Today's
gentle reminder is to pick yourself up again as soon as
possible. Give yourself time to mourn and deal with the
situation,
but remember that it is not the morning and the surrounding
your-self with pain that will improve your life or make
you feel better.
Depression
never gave me a gift or wiped away my tears.
Depression only held my arms hostage and my legs incapable
of walking away. Depression, sadness, anger and hate only
burned a hole in my stomach and tossed me to the floor beaten
and bruised.
Depression
is not the answer. It will not make anything better.
As soon
as you possibly can...push yourself to stand up and brush
yourself off, then get on with your life and make your life
the best it can be regardless of what is around you. Don't
take "bad" things personally because no life ever
escapes difficult experiences.
Take care
of yourself.

Quote of the month
================================================
"Success
is peace of mind, which is a direct result of
knowing you did your best to become the best that
you are capable of becoming."
John Wooden
(1910-, American Basketball Coach)
Just a
reminder to be all that you can be, with the resources that
you have at hand today. It is the best that you can do and
no one can ask more of you - not even yourself

Research

Special
thank you to one of our readers for sending us this article
on Aspartame found in many no sugar products and depression!
...
"We have known for years that when aspartame is ingested
with a carbohydrate rich meal the usual physiologic increase
in tryptophan is blocked, while brain phenylalanine and
tyrosine concentrations are increased.
These
changes in amino acid neurotransmitter precursors could,
I believe, alter indoleamine/catecholamine balance, and
thus have a profound effect on mood and cognition ... depressed
mood, anxiety, dizziness, panic attacks, nausea, irritability,
impairment of memory and concentration."

Storytime:
There
are many readers out there that have a great story to tell
about how they have handled difficult times or how others
have inspired them. Many are working through The Wave Riders
steps and improving their lives. We all have our times when
we find it difficult and we all have our little successes.
I want to share our stories in an upcoming book (Submissions
will remain anonymous and names will only be kept on file
to prove authenticity. Read our online privacy policy regarding
your information. Stories are not verified and some submissions
may be spam that has been sent to me. I have provided those
stories only as interest or inspiration.)
I received
this note this month (not a story but a nice note)...
Well finally
our daughter has picked up your book and devoured the contents
with great enthusiasm! It has taken since I corresponded
with you in late January to get it into her hands for previewing.
We have not seen her so enthusiastic about life and the
future in months.
She says that she relates to every page and is working on
using the suggestions to operate more "normally"
on a daily basis.
At any
rate, once again, thank you for committing to writing your
experience and hope. I know that your book has gently changed
her outlook and even reevaluate some of her short term plans.
Have a
fantastic day! Ours well be better now knowing our daughter
has discovered she is not unique and has information from
an experienced "sufferer".
