"Creativity in Balance"

Great things are not done by impulse,
but by a series of small things brought together.

Welcome to the "Riding the Wave - The Wave Riders™ " Newsletter. http://www.thewaveriders.com

As Waver Riders, we often seek to do things "all at once" or "not at all". We forget that small, consistent baby steps will lead us to success, without the debilitating burnout and depression that comes from the adrenaline driven and overly-optimistic "Success Mind State" erratic "push till you drop" method of achievement.

Maximum Capacity Burnout and The Success Mind State©.

What we battle, while we struggle to remain balanced is an often unspoken push by what we consider to be successful people. Watch as Tony Robbins, (who has helped many people, push us to be high achievers), will talk fast "without breathing". This high-paced, fast-talking, non-breathing pace is what we will set a "ruler" for which we will measure ourselves. I have watched upcoming Tony Robbin's speakers push back people with their high-energy state; a state that they worship as "THE optimum state to be in". This state is the "high-energy adrenaline state" and it is very dangerous.

How do we explain to corporations, that they have pumped up and expected our executives to produce at maximum capacity, with little thought on what that means to the mental and physical health of these executives?

Executives strive to be like the corporate leaders that they admire, because we believe that these top leaders are succeeding at that fast pace without any consequences. We believe that somehow "we should also be able to work at this same high pace".

But are our top Leaders operating at this high level, without consequence or is it hidden from view?

Millions of people will suffer depression in their lifetimes and often the corporate achiever will be on that list. Many will attempt suicide because "there must be something wrong with me if I cannot keep up".

Corporate America would save millions of dollars in medical expenses and retraining of new recruits if they could remember to teach their over-achievers to work with "reserve capacity". No manufacturer should work at maximum capacity or it will burn out equipment, lack innovation and in the end self-destruct.

Our executives are under constant pressure to work at "maximum capacity" and the end result is that corporate America is drugged, depressed and divorced!

I work online coaching many top executives and what they battle most is the "mover and shaker" attitude brought about by many of the "motivational speaker" generation. If you are not moving at maximum capacity then you simple are not cut out for the top office.

Leaders of industry have been taught to push and shove and multi-task and if you are not doing the same you are not executive material.

However, remember this

Many are alcoholics
Many will commit suicide
Many will divorce
Many will not know their children
Many will die alone.
Many will come to the end of their years in regret

We do not see these Leaders of Industry when they are alone.
We do not know how often they scream at their kids and spouses to release the tension.

In fact, today we are seeing a slow-moving trend. The new business respect comes to the man or woman who can set his priorities and balance - this is the true leader of today. We no longer respect those who burn out for their boss. Who give it all up for the company. We have learned that when we burn out, the company will not be there to pay our bills and help us up again. The "instant" we have reached burnout - our bosses are looking for a replacement. It is simply "good business to be ready".

If I could reach out to you now, I would give you an attractive blown glass bottle filled to the top with coloured water with your favorite colour. I would say to you - "This is your life essence". "It is all that you have to give. Empty it completely and you will not be able to fill it again, but every so often put a little more water in it and it will remain forever". It should sit on your desk or in your home as a constant reminder that the life force within is your to nurture your life, and the lives of those that you love. It is not meant to be given away in its entirety!

When we define our boundaries and we respect them - others will respect them too.

And for some reason that I cannot explain... the "universe" will bend to support the man or woman that sets her balanced boundaries.

If we do not balance and set our boundaries the "universe will push us and push us and push us until our life essence is no more and we collapse into a self-blaming bundle of weakness.

The trick is in seeing that it is not the "over achieving" that makes lasting wealth. It is the working smarter and that includes "working in balance".

There are more "wealth" opportunities than even you can imagine - you do not have to burn out to achieve them and you do not have to believe that the one you are burning out for now is the last one coming your way.

Wealth opportunities that come your way when you set your rules - will be within "your boundaries".

If you do not set your boundaries, you may always be chasing something elusive.

The world stands still for those who choose.

Corporations need to change. They need to stop pushing high motivation seminars and instead offer a more balanced approach. We need to stop "talking about burnout" and start giving kudos to those executives that blend fitness and balance with achievement.

We need to recognize that executives who balance think with greater innovation and are able to maintain a more consistent pace. These new executives think creatively without suffering "Maximum Capacity Burnout".

Be good to yourself and remember to balance and breathe and keep your "life essence bottle" full.
