Today's Gentle Reminder
=========================================

It is springtime and some of us will start to feel better already. Just to feel the sun on our face can start the day off right. But for some of us even the sun and the springtime flowers will not bring us pleasure.

Joy does not come packaged in the sunshine and the rain does not suck away your joy. (This does not include people that suffer from seasonal disorder from the lack of sun) Our goal is to find the sunshine even on our rainy days and to not wait until spring to feel the joy.

How do we do that? We take each day as a special and new beginning. We stop over extending ourselves so that we can appreciate each day as a fresh start and each day we try a little more to make our world and our lives just a bit better. We appreciate what we have rather than let the tv tell us what we should have. We enjoy a single moment of joy rather than expect that we should be happy everyday all year round. Just as the flowers need to hide below the earth to gather enough energy to push out a magnificant showing of bloom so too do we need our
dormant time in order to allow our creative gifts to flow.

Get some rest, enjoy the spring and take care of yourself.

Quote of the month
===============================================

"Pain Is Inevitable. Suffering is Optional."
(Zen Aphorism)

It is in our observation of the pain around us that we suffer. It is the bringing of the pain to ourselves as a personal attack that makes us dwell in the misery.

Research
=========================================

Though this article was written in 1999 it is interesting to note some of the symptoms of Temporal lobe epilepsy where a person does not lose consciousness but can experience fear, anxiety, elation, visions and more. Many famous people are said to have had TLE and it is worth mentioning as a consideration for anyone who suffers from any of the experiences mentioned in this article and there are many more articles on the subject available on the web.

...The seizures associated with TLE consist of simple partial seizures without loss of awareness (with or without aura) and complex partial seizures (ie, with loss of awareness)...

Temporal lobe epilepsy has been linked to divine encounters, artistic creation and fearful visitations from other realms. Pickover examines some of the implications of current research into this mysterious disease. by Clifford Pickover

Storytime:

There are many readers out there that have a great story to tell about how they have handled difficult times or how others have inspired them. Many are working through The Wave Riders steps and improving their lives. We all have our times when we find it difficult and we all have our little successes. I want to share our stories in an upcoming book (Submissions will remain anonymous and names will only be kept on file to prove authenticity. Read our online privacy policy regarding your information. Stories are not verified and some submissions may be spam that has been sent to me. I have provided those stories only as interest or inspiration.)

Anonymous story submission for this month...

I ignored what I was doing. I ran toward drugs and
booze as the only answer for my problems but I kept getting
worse. Friends began turning away from me and the anger
at my wife and my children began to grow as I constantly
blamed them for the pain I felt inside. I yelled at them because
I could. I yelled at them when I really wanted to yell at the
world.

After reading The Wave Riders, I began to breath and walk
instead of reaching for pot and I began to live again. I have been working with my wife to recognize when I am beginning to do too much and I stop what I am doing and I take a little walk,rest and balance. I have learned to listen to my wife and my inner spirit.

I have learned who I am inside without the pot and alcohol and
because I am changing my view on events around me I am no
longer angry. If I can do it so can someone else I am sure of it.
Walk away from the pot and the booze, they are not and never
will be your salvation!
