Beware the new tide bringing waves of success!
I
call them sneaky little Success Waves. You will experience
these waves even though you may not feel success in your life,
yet! These waves begin around 3 - 6 months or more after reading
The Wave Riders and practicing the steps in the book.
When
you first read the book you have the feeling of hope, which
sends you on another high ride, which eventually exhausts
you, and you slip into depression again. Next, you experience
a mood recycling as you go up and down emotionally a few times.
Observe yourself and make mental notes on your own patterns
and triggers. Finally, you begin to see! You see what has
been sending you on these emotional waves.
Slowly
a sense of calm will build up and you will start to get your
life in order.
You
will complete projects and start to set new boundaries. You
can see a life growing in front of you that offers joy and
success. You will want to race to the finish line. Your adrenaline
addiction that at one time was easy to see now hides itself
from your conscious view. Now "it" knows that you
are "aware" of the way it has been pushing
you around. As if the adrenaline addiction had a mind of it's
own, it again attempts to fool you. Calmly it begins to elevate
your energy and you begin to think ."this is it!",
"I have it!", "I understand what is going on
with my life.", "I am able to do so much without
getting burnt out. I am not too high and I am breathing deeply
to maintain the middle.", "I think I have mastered
this bi-polar roller coaster."
I
call these Success Waves because they show up just as you
are starting to succeed at Wave Riding! It is very close to
the wave that you will eventually feel each and everyday that
you are following your personal rules.
I
call them "sneaky" because they are so hard to detect.
They come up without you noticing that they have arrived.
You
will be slightly higher than the middle wave and you will
not be bouncing. You will feel in control. You will not feel
"high" and you will not feel "low". Your
pulse rate may or may not be higher than normal. You will
be clear minded and efficiently productive. You will begin
to see what your life can be without the depression and without
the uncontrollable bursts of energy. You can look back at
yourself and see the errors made by your high ride personality.
You feel a comfortable sense of forward motion. You are confident
that you know what you are doing. You, think to yourself,
Whew, at last!
This
is the time for caution.
Be careful! Watch for these subtle waves and know that when
you sense that you have mastered the wave, remember - continue
using the tools. Breathe deep and pace, breathe deep and pace.
If
we fall victim to the belief that we can sustain the elevated
productivity level, even at only slightly elevated levels,
then we will fall once more into burnout and the inevitable
depression that follows in the bottom of the wave.
There
will come a time when you will be calmly productive and you
will balance your time and energy. There will come a day when
you will calmly feel this inner joy. You will see a day when
you have designed your life to support the person that you
were always meant to be. You will know when you have arrived
at this stage, because, you will feel and sustain a deep-seated,
inner peace and joy that is accepting of the world around
you and not an elevated world. The "I am the master of
my world feeling" is not the goal that we are after.
We seek the middle. Still creative, still productive still
fun to be around - middle.
Keep
your eyes on your levels and keep using your steps. Give yourself
a hug and be confident that you are the unique individual
that you are meant to be, and allow the time for healing.
It is not a race to the finish line.

in Faith,
